The development process of toothbrush

Many ancient civilizations in the world have used twigs or small wood chips to rub their teeth. Another common method is to rub the teeth with baking soda or chalk. Toothbrushes with brown bristles appeared in India and Africa around 1600 BC.

According to the American Dental Association, in 1498, Emperor Ming Xiaozong of China also had a toothbrush made of short stiff pig bristles inserted into the bone handle. The traditional method of cleaning teeth in the West is to rub the teeth with a rag. This method has existed at least since ancient Rome. Toothbrushes did not appear until the 17th century, and were not widely popular until the 19th century. In 1938, DuPont Chemical introduced a toothbrush with synthetic fibers (mostly nylon) instead of animal bristles. The first toothbrush with nylon yarn as bristles was launched on February 24 of that year.
